City of Mist: Local Legends is a brand-new expansion for the tabletop roleplaying game City of Mist. The book, which can be purchased as a digital PDF now or pre-ordered as a physical book set to arrive sometime in November, requires The Player’s Guide for City of Mist to be used.
With this expansion, players and game masters - known as Masters of Ceremonies in City of Mist - will be able to experience nine complete districts, each themed around a different concept. Within these districts, players can solve new investigations, visit new locations, meet new characters and hunt down new villains, as well as experience a wealth of other fresh content.
Key features of City of Mist: Local Legends
- The largest City of Mist expansion released
- Nine different districts to explore
- A wide variety of locales inspired by various mythologies, cultures and themes
- Nine smaller cases to investigate as a one-shot session
- One larger adventure, Forged and Framed
- New characters to meet and organisations to join
- A story arc for every district with new adversaries, villains, and random encounters
- New options for character creation, including two new Themebooks: Tradition and Esoterica
Highlights of City of Mist: Local Legends

- Recognizable characters from mythology and fairy tales like the Greek God of Music, Orpheus, and Puss in Boots, pop up throughout this book within the most unlikely situations.

What are the districts included in Local Legends?
Chinatown is a district imbued with the culture, history and spirits - quite literally - of the Chinese community, as the turf-war between the local crime families mirror the struggle between the supernatural elements of Jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampires) and Tiger Spirits.
Fortune Row is a grand coastline of casinos where visitors can take a risk: either on the slot machines and gambling tables or on a spectacular heist, on the assets of some of the richest and most dangerous individuals of the district.
Happyville is a strange residential district of Americana suburb, whose seemingly mundane outer appearance hides a sinister underbelly of disturbing and otherworldly secrets, in the vein of 1950s conspiracy theories.
Independence is a black-American majority neighborhood held together with a strong sense of community and support, despite its past and current struggles with oppression and the interference of government operations.
La Colonia De Sombras is populated largely by a latino American community whose cultures, myths and beliefs permeate throughout the district: from the appearance of a mysterious luchador vigilante to ancient mesoamerican deities.
The Campus is an educational district whose students learn and practice supernatural arts and powerful magic, with the opportunity to join secret societies, uncover ancient tomes, and encounter all manner of unusual creatures and dieties.
The Sunken City is an underwater province, an "Atlantis" of sorts, situated outside the City, at the very edge of the Mist, where you'll find pulpy adventures, archaeological wonders, and the opportunity to truly unleash your Mythos.
The Undertrash can be found beneath the surface of the City and contains mountains of discarded rubbish and treasure, all of which is being fought over by rival bands of underground gangs wrestling for domination.
Tourist Trap is a destination filled with all the wonders and disappointment that can be found in a classic holiday resort, alongside a large helping of the weird, supernatural and entirely unexpected.
What is City of Mist?
City of Mist is an established tabletop RPG that posits a world in which the player characters discover they are the reincarnations of figures, ideas, items and/or beings from legend, folklore, mythology, or literature.
The TRPG takes place in a modern setting wherein the people live and work under the influence of the Mist, which shrouds the true nature of the world: that there are those who can call upon supernatural and fantastical powers for good or for ill.
Built upon a game engine inspired by the Powered by the Apocalypse gameplay system - called the Mist Engine - City of Mist has players empowering their characters’ actions through the use of descriptors called Tags. When creating their characters, players will be able to create any imaginable tags by simpley describing it, dividing them between two key sides of themselves: the ordinary and the extraordinary. When performing actions, players can utilize the appropriate tags to add to their dice rolls and improve their chances of success.
