Shaolin monks, his parents
Happyville (Suburbia)

After spending nine years in his parents' basement playing video games, Bodhi awakened and realized that: “The Unreal Cannot Hold Me”. He started seeing through the illusions of the City, which to him appear pixelated as if in an old video game, and which can no longer restrain him. In his head, Bodhi sees life as one big video game - to truly succeed he'll need to find all the hidden levels and beat the bosses in order to Complete The Level. Bodhi found the entrance to the legendary Shaolin Temple through a utility closet in his parents’ basement which he now fondly calls his Shaolin Mancave. The monks there have since come to respect him as their true master. Little does he know, his mother is the Rift of the Great Emptiness, Mother of the Ten Thousand Things, which is why his powers don’t apply to her.

Do you realize that none of this is actually real? This City, this street, even you and me. It’s just some big video game that someone built for us. I don’t know who, or why, but it doesn’t matter.
